Taxon Notes:Jeff Johnson (Qld Museum) originally recognised Parapercis sp. 5 as distinct, differing slightly from the eastern form Parapercis allporti in colour and most often in the length of the first versus fifth dorsal spines. The two forms have identical CO1 gene sequences and although they could be regarded as subspecies or geographic populations, on this basis do not warrant formal description. Therefore this taxon has been made non-active and re-directed to Parapercis allporti.
