Taxon Notes: | Genus updated from Epinephelus after Craig & Hastings 1997; Craig et al 2011, Ma & Craig, 2018. Endemic to Western Australia from Barrow Island to Two Peoples Bay in depths of 76–470 m. Previously confused with H. septemfasciatus, which is restricted to Japan and the East China Sea and supported by strong molecular evidence (see Moore et al 2022). |
