Taxon Notes
Cao et al 2022 resurrected E. rankini from the synonym of E. multinotatus. Epinephelus rankini is known from off the Perth region in WA north-east to the Arafura Sea, NT (c. 128º54'E) and Indonesia in at least 15-100m depth, whereas E. multinotatus is restricted to the Western Indian Ocean.
