Scientific Name Notes
This genus has been spelled Caelorinchus by many authors following Sazonov and Iwamoto (1992), however the previous spelling Coelorinchus is now considered to be the correct one (T. Iwamoto, in press 2008). Prior to its description by Iwamoto & Graham, Coelorinchus gormani has previously been confused with Coelorinchus parvifasciatus McMillan & Paulin, 1993. C. gormani occurs in south-eastern Australia and C. parvifasciatus is restricted to New Zealand. References to C. parvifasciatus from Australia therefore probably refer to C. gormani or other Coelorinchus spp.
