Description: Soela cruise SO 3/85 was undertaken for a fish survey, ichthyoplankton and hydrological sampling in Tasmanian and eastern Bass Strait waters. Leg 1 cruise objectives were to fish and to calibrate the engel highrise and pelagic nets, to sample bottom fish in the eastern Bass Strait and to carry out seabird observations during the cruise. Leg 2 cruise objectives were to test and calibrate the Radio Direction Finder, sample ichthyoplankton along standard transects around Tasmania, collect oceanic water for phytoplankton culture, carry out hydro-transects and to collect euphausid species for a collaborative study between Division of Fisheries Research and the University of Tasmania.
