H. Jitts (CSIRO) To study the development of upwelling south of Java (hydrology, primary production, pigments and zooplankton).
To measure non-particulate organic matter formed during photosynthesis.
To measure productivity in rich, dilute, tropical waters with a high silt load using scintillation counting. To investigate long and short was radiation.
DM 2/63

[details]
H. Jitts (CSIRO) H.M.A.S Diamantina cruise Dm 2/63 (International Indian Ocean Expedition cruise) was undertaken to study zooplankton, primary production, pigments, particulate carbon, micronekton abundance and long and short wave radiation studies in the Indian Ocean along the 110 degrees E meridian. Bathythermograph casts and hydrology (subsurface) sampling were also conducted. Samples were analysed on board and back at laboratory.
DM 4/62

[details]
H. Jitts (CSIRO) H.M.A.S Diamantina cruise Dm 4/62 (International Indian Ocean Expedition cruise) was undertaken to study zooplankton, primary production, pigments, and micronekton abundance in the Indian Ocean along the 110 degrees E meridian. Also conducted were bathythermograph casts and hydrology including surface and deep sampling. Samples were analysed on board and back at the laboratory.
DM 2/60

[details]
H. Jitts (CSIRO) H.M.A.S Diamantina cruise Dm 2/60 was undertaken to collect biological and oceanographical data and samples from the northeast Indian Ocean, Timor, Arafura and Java Seas. The following were collected and analysed on board and back at the Cronulla laboratory; primary production measurements, pigments, zooplankton, phytoplankton and hydrology (deep and surface) samples. The voyage took place from Fremantle to Singapore, Sumatera, Djakarta, Thursday Island, Port Moresby, Darwin and back to Fremantle, from 11 July to 26 September 1960.
Magga Dan Voyage 1, 1959

[details]
Hydrology, productivity and plankton studies
DH 11/57

[details]
H. Jitts (CSIRO) Voyage DH 11/57 was a productivity cruise in the region of the East Australian Current off Sydney. Samples were taken for productivity, light penetration was measured, and limited hydrological sampling was also carried out.
DH 6/57

[details]
H. Jitts (CSIRO) Voyage DH 6/57 was a productivity cruise carried out sequentially after one of the series of hydrology cruises studying the East Australian Current off Sydney. Samples were taken for productivity, light penetration was measured, and limited hydrological sampling was also carried out.
