Taxon Notes:

Updated from Hypseleotris sp A after description. Found throughout the Murray-Darling Basin (MDB), Bulloo River (Bulloo-Bancannia Basin, BBB), Cooper Creek (Lake Eyre Basin, LEB), and eastern coastal streams from the Tully River south to around the Brisbane River. Recently confirmed to occur in the upper Einasleigh River (draining into the Gulf of Carpentaria). Hemiclonal lineages involving this species and H. acropinna, H. galii, H. moolooboolaensis, or H. gymnocephala are known from the MDB, BBB, LEB and east coast drainages (Thacker et al 2022).
