Taxon Notes: | Originally added as G. arenicola based on specimens in AMS and NTM from Kimberley region of WA (123 32 E) and Trepang Bay to Truant Island, NT. Material from eastern Australia that had previously been identified as G. arenicola, is now regarded as G. lauensis (37428472). Allen & Erdmann (2017) noted that the Australian records of G. arenicola most likely represent an undescribed species and this species was described as Grallenia larsonae in 2018. Known from the Monte Bello Islands of Western Australia to coastal and insular locations of the Northern Territory, eastward to Bremer Island off the Gove Peninsula (northwestern corner of the Gulf of Carpentaria) in 1-15m depth. The true G. arenicola is restricted to Japan (Allen & Hammer 2018). | ||||
