Taxon Notes:

Iwatsubo & Motomura 2013 resurrected Chromis kennensis from the synonomy of Chromis flavomaculata. The latter species is now a synonym of Chromis notata, which is endemic to the East Asian region. Chromis kennensis is known from the SW Pacific incl. the Coral Sea (Ken Reef, Middleton Reef & Elizabeth Reef), Lord Howe Island, eastern Australia (Sydney), New Caledonia (Ouvea Island), and Tonga (Tongatapu).
