Taxon Notes:	This species was originally referred to in Australia as Upeneus bensasi, which is a synonym of Upeneus japonicus, and confirmed only from the South China Sea and Japan. Upeneus torres occurs from off Shark Bay (WA) north-eastwards to Torres Strait (Qld) in 12-351m.
