Taxon Notes:Updated from Gymnocranius sp [in Carpenter & Allen 1989] after description. In Australia, this species is confirmed from Trunk Reef (18 22 S, 146 48 E) to North Gardiner Bank (25 S, 153 25 E), Qld (J Johnson, pers. comm Dec 2015) and NW of Port Hedland (19 22 S, 117 42 E) to N of Dampier Archipelago (19 41 S, 116 42 E), WA, but it is probably more widespread in northern Australia. Australian records from 9-82m depth.
