Pseudocaranx dentex was described from Brazil and may be a different species to the Australian form that is known from Queensland and Lord Howe Island (see Smith-Vaniz & Jelks, 2006). This species was previously coded as 37 337062 in CAAB, which is now occupied by Pseudocaranx georgianus.
