Taxon Notes:

Updated from Epigonus occidentalis (considered restricted to Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico and Western Atlantic) after Okamoto et al 2016. In Australia, known from west of Cape Farquhar (c. 23 44 S, 112 35 E) to SW of Ledge Point (31 16 S, 114 50 E), WA in 612-620 m. Elsewhere known from Japan, Kyushu-Palau Ridge, Hawaiian Islands, Society Islands, PNG and Nazca and Sala y Gomez Ridges in 276-755m depth (Okamoto et al 2018).
