Expected species depth range is from 430 to 671 m.
Taxon Notes:Coelorinchus hoangi has been confused with Coelorinchus maurofasciatus. C. hoangi is known from Shark Bay to Eucla (WA) and C. maurofasciatus is known from Cape Leeuwin (WA) to central NSW, including New Zealand. The two species overlap off the south coast of WA.
Scientific Name Notes:This genus has been spelled Caelorinchus by many authors following Sazonov and Iwamoto (1992), however the previous spelling Coelorinchus is now considered to be the correct one (T. Iwamoto, in press 2008)
