Taxon Notes: | Finucci et al 2024 showed that Harriotta raleighana, a presumed globally distributed species, likely comprises several species with the true H. raleighana possibly restricted to the Atlantic and NE Pacific. Harriotta avia is known from the New Zealand-Australia region at depths of 260–1278 m (mostly 400–1000 m). In New Zealand, widespread on the continental slope, on or near the seabed from off Northland to the Campbell Plateau. In Australia, reported from southern Australia, from Brush Island (New South Wales) to Geraldton (Western Australia), including Tasmania and Tasman Sea seamounts and ridges at 350–1080 (mostly 700–900 m). | ||||||||
