Taxon Notes:Hoese & Hammer (2021) resurrected this species from the synonymy of Glossogobius giurus and noted the latter still exists in Australian waters. Known from the Northern Territory, and Cooktown to Bundaberg, Queensland. Elsewhere the occurs in West Papua, Indonesia, and PNG. Adults typically inhabit freshwater, while juveniles are sometimes found in estuaries.
