Taxon Notes:Tornabene et al 2021 reviewed the Eviota zebrina complex describing 4 new species, including Eviota longirostris, which was formerly known in Australia as Eviota zebrina; the true Eviota zebrina is restricted to the Indian Ocean: Seychelles, Saint Brandon's Shoals (Cargados Carajos), Mascarenes (Mauritius, Rodrigues), Maldives and Chagos Archipelago (British Indian Ocean Territory). Name updated based on Doug Hoese pers. comm. 16 April 2025.
