Expected species depth range is from 0 to 25 m.
Taxon Notes:Knudsen & Clements (2013) in a revision of the Kyphosidae, synonymised K. pacificus with K. sectatrix, so the latter is the valid name. It has a widespread distribution, occurring in the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans, the Red Sea and the Mediterranean. In Australia it is confirmed from NSW (incl. Middleton Reef & Lord Howe I.) and Norfolk I. but is probably more widespread.
