RUX files information
RUX files for the ship navigation system can be delivered to the bridge using one of the following methods. They are loaded into a PC near the large chart table by the ships officer, the track is validated and can then be posted to the live system.
Please ensure the file name is short, concise and obvious. The navigation system will only show the first 15 or so characters of the filename.
- 1. Transfer file using USB. If you leave the rux file in the top folder of the USB, the ships officers can mount the USB and view any files on drive F: (the USB)
- 2. Using a USB, any *.rux files can be moved into c:\Radec\RouteData\. The navigation tool can directly see it.
- 3. Drop a *.rux file into NavPlanning folder mounted on the GSM console in the Ops room. Advise the bridge it is there. This drive is mounted on the ship navigation system PC and can be directly read into the system.
Track validation means it looks for any navigation hazards. If there any time constraints on using that track, then the ships officer can let you know how long the track and the potential time taken.
