Description: Courageous cruise 039 was undertaken to search for skipjack, yellowfin and southern bluefin tuna, in a region off the New South Wales coast north and south of Sydney (between Tacking Point and Bermagui) and to carry out associated hydrological sampling including XBTs, nutrients, zooplankton and chlorophyll, to study phenomena related to water masses and fronts, and to deploy a satellite-tracked buoy in an eddy off the southern NSW coast. The voyage took place from Sydney-Bermagui area-Sydney, from 9 to 13 October 1978.
