[details]
(1957-58: 20 cruises - 10 on hydrology and water masses associated with the East Australian Current; seven for productivity studies (C-14 uptake measurements); three for tuna longlining)
DH 9/58

[details]
Derwent Hunter voyage DH 09/1958.
During this period the vessel was loaned to the Division of Meteorological Physics for meteorological investigations in Port Phillip Bay.
DH 8/58

[details]
Derwent Hunter voyage DH 08/1958.
This cruise was intended to continue the study of the chemical, physical, and biological structure of eastern Bass Strait, but due to adverse weather, only five stations were worked on the coast of New South Wales and in north-eastern Bass Strait.
DH 7/58

[details]
N. Dyson (CSIRO) Derwent Hunter voyage DH 07/1958.
This cruise was the sixth of the productivity series. Only two stations were occupied because of failure of equipment a fault in the submarine photometer, and a fire in the 14C Light bath.

DH 5/58

[details]
N. Dyson (CSIRO) Derwent Hunter voyage DH 05/1958.
The purpose of this cruise was the same as that outlined for Cruise DH3/58 which had to be cancelled, This cruise was the fourth of the productivity series.
From the Cruise plan for DH3/58:
The purpose of this cruise was (1) to carry out routine measurements of the rate of photosynthetic uptake of CO in samples taken on a line of stations bearing 110 deg rom Port Hacking. (2) To measure the daily variation of C02 uptake at two stations 2O and 120 miles from the coast. (3) To determine the sampling error in C02 uptake measurements at a station 70 miles from the coast. (4) To determine the hydrological characteristics and the depth of light penetration at all stations.
Taken from Division of Fisheries and Oceanography Report 27 (1958)

J. Stanifourth (CSIRO) Derwent Hunter voyage DH 07/1958.
This cruise was the sixth of the productivity series. Only two stations were occupied because of failure of equipment, a fault in the submarine photometer, and a fire in the 14C Light bath.

[details]
J Stainforth (CSIRO) Derwent Hunter voyage DH 02/1958.
This is the eighth of the series of cruises to study the physical and chemical structure and circulation of the East Australian Current off Sydney. Owing to bad weather the 290deg T Section Line was not worked on this cruise.
Taken from Division of Fisheries and Oceanography Report 27 (1958)
DH 1/58

[details]
J. Staniforth (CSIRO) Derwent Hunter voyage DH 01/1958.
This is the seventh of the cruises to study the structure and the circulation of the East Australian Current off Sydney.
Taken from Division of Fisheries and Oceanography Report 27 (1958)
DH 16/57

[details]
C. Walker (CSIRO) Voyage DH 10/57 was the sixth in a 2-year series to study the structure and dynamics of the East Australian Current off Sydney. Vertical hydrology stations were occupied, and hauls made for zooplankton (200m to surface) and phytoplankton (surface). Sea surface height measurements were also made.
DH 15/57

[details]
N. Dyson (CSIRO) Voyage DH 15/57 was a productivity cruise in the region of the East Australian Current off Sydney. Samples were taken for productivity, light penetration was measured, and limited hydrological sampling was also carried out.
DH 14/57

[details]
J. Staniforth (CSIRO) Voyage DH 14/57 was the fifth in a 2-year series to study the structure and dynamics of the East Australian Current off Sydney. Vertical hydrology stations were occupied, and hauls made for zooplankton (200m to surface) and phytoplankton (surface). Sea surface height measurements were also made.
DH 10/57

J. Staniforth (CSIRO) Voyage DH 10/57 was the fourth in a 2-year series to study the structure and dynamics of the East Australian Current off Sydney. Vertical hydrology stations were occupied, and hauls made for zooplankton (200m to surface) and phytoplankton (surface). Sea surface height measurements were also made.
DH 8/57

[details]
Voyage DH 8/57 was planned as a hydrology cruise in the continuing study of the East Australian Current off Sydney. The cruise was curtailed after 3 stations had been worked owing to bad weather.
DH 5/57

[details]
J. Staniforth (CSIRO) Voyage DH 5/57 was the third in a 2-year series to study the structure and dynamics of the East Australian Current off Sydney. Vertical hydrology stations were occupied, and hauls made for zooplankton (200m to surface) and phytoplankton (surface). Samples were also collected at 5 stations for productivity studies.
DH 3/57

[details]
B.V. Hamon (CSIRO) Voyage DH 3/57 was the second in a 2-year series to study the structure and dynamics of the East Australian Current off Sydney. Hydrological sampling and studies of ocean dynamic height and internal waves were carried out.
DH 1/57

[details]
C. Walker (CSIRO) Voyage DH 1/57 was part of a 2-year study of the structure and dynamics of the East Australian current off Sydney. Vertical hydrology stations were occupied and zooplankton hauls taken through the top 200m of the water.
