Notes: | Saw breakdown - vice handle mount block hold bolt was damamged from over tighting |
Reviewed the assembly for complete removal: | loosened all bolts holding the two main & 39;ways& 39; to pivot the unit to access the underside bolt issue. This also had little & 39;gotchas& 39;.... weighting up options. reverted to option 1 and patently straightend the washers to get access to the bolt head. |
Lesson learnt.: | |
Comments: | The saw vice becaome unusable when the bolt head washers began to bellow and deform from over tighening. This made it hard to remove the bolt head as the hex was not available to get a socket or anything on because the washers where squashed around it. I begun two options - tap the whashers straight. very hard to access and dificult to use tools in this position. Reviewed the assembly for complete removal: loosened all bolts holding the two main & 39;ways& 39; to pivot the unit to access the underside bolt issue. This also had little & 39;gotchas& 39;.... weighting up options. reverted to option 1 and patently straightend the washers to get access to the bolt head. achieved this , used some thicker washers from the engineers store and then re installed all components. Lesson learnt.: Dont over tighten the rock in the vice. make the vice clamp as parallell as possible. Vice clamp mount bolt wASHER NEED TO BE MORE ROBUST THAN A WASHER. the section that the thread pushes onto the vice cheek plate appears to be missing a piece that better connects the two . currently a block of wood is now doing this job. T handle is not that user friendly - ratchcet improved suggest by MAtt. |
