Scientific Name Notes:Crocodylus johnstoni is a nomen protectum, and the valid name to use for this species. It is an emendation of the original name Crocodilus johnsonii. It was named after the collector, R. Johnstone, but was mis-spelt in the original paper by Krefft, the error was recognised and corrected shortly after the original publication, and as it is now in general usage, it is maintained under the Zoological Code.
