Taxon Notes:Hutchins & Randall (1982) described this species from Tahiti & the Cook Islands. They noted that 2 juvenile specimens collected from Lord Howe Island (in AMS collection) were possibly this species. Randall (2011) reviewed the genus and recorded additional specimens from New Caledonia, noting that this range extension made the Lord Howe identifications more positive.
