Taxon Notes:AFD 13.7.20: confusion over Liza alata, L. tade & L. ordensis. Thompson (1954) regarded L. alata as a senior synonym of L. ordensis. Larson et al. 2013 recognised L. ordensis as distinct based on molecular studies of Durand et al 2012a, but Durand et al 2012b noted L. ordensis was a synonym of L. alata and placed the species in Planiliza. Larson et al. 2013 indicated previous records of L. tade from N Aust (Thompson 1997; Hoese & Bray 2006) were based on misid's of L. ordensis. Harrison & Senou 1999 suggested records of L. planiceps which they treated as correct name for the species previously referred to as L. tade from Aust, were probably misid's of other species. J. Ghasemzadeh has id'd both L. tade & L. ordensis from Aust so conflict unresolved.
