Expected species depth range is from 225 to 295 m.
Taxon Notes:Motomura et al 2015 noted that Neomerinthe erostris is a senior synonym of Scorpaena gibbifrons, Neomerinthe rotunda and Neomerinthe bathyperimensis. In Australia, confirmed from off Ashmore Reef (Timor Sea) and Great Barrier Reef in 95m depth (H. Motomura, pers. comm June 2016). Widely distributed in the Indo-West Pacific from Madagascar and Yemen eastwards to Wallis and Futuna Islands in depths of 52–505m (Motomura et al 2015, Zootaxa).
