Scientific Name Notes:In a review of Liocranium, Motomura, Last & Johnson (2008) restored the name Liocranium pleurostigma. Prior to this publication, there was thought to be a single widespread species of Liocranium in northern Australia, namely Liocranium praepositum. All records of Liocranium pleurostigma from the east coast of Qld between about 18 deg S and 28 deg S probably refer to Liocranium praepositum. All records from the Torres Strait (Qld) west to the Exmouth Gulf (WA) are probably valid as Liocranium pleurostigma.
