Taxon Notes:

From Australian Faunal Directory, July 2018: There is uncertainty over the correct name and number of number of species of Lophotus found in Australia. The species has been treated as Lophotus lacepede, L. capellei or L. guntheri. We follow Craig et al. (2004) in use of the name L. guntheri for the south Pacific species. Because there may be two species in Australia, further work is needed on the genus.
