Taxon Notes:Created for CSIRO's "Mesopelagic Fishes of the Southern Tasman Sea" Project. Recorded from the southern Tasman Sea outside the Australian EEZ (between Australia and NZ). Only known from a single specimen that is a member of the Melamphaes typhlops group of Ebeling (1962) that have a low number of gillrakers (less than 20). As of June 2022 this taxon is still inadequately resolved but has been made non-active due to it being outside Australian waters.
