Taxon Notes:

Hammer et al 2019 separated M. maccullochi into three species, M. maccullochi, M. sahulensis and M. wilsoni - the true M. maccullochi occurs in coastal streams of northeast Queensland, Australia from Cape Flattery southward to Cardwell region, M. sahulensis is known from northern Cape York Peninsula, Moa I, Torres Strait and Trans-Fly region of PNG, and M. wilsoni is known from three small streams draining west off the Tabletop Range [Burton Creek (Finniss River system) and Tolmer and Sandy creeks (Reynolds River system)], south of Darwin, NT.
