FR 02/93 (alternative identifier: FR199302)    - is a Marine National Facility voyage

Period: 1993-02-10 00:00 to 1993-02-26 00:00 Local

Duration: 16.00 days

From: Townsville To: Townsville

Region: Cato and Wreck Reefs, Coral Sea

Ship: Franklin [details]

Description: Cruise FR 02/93 was undertaken to examine the physical and biological oceanography around two isolated reefs in the Coral Sea: Cato Reef (23 degrees S, 155 degrees E) and Wreck Reef (22 degrees S, 155 degrees E). Cruise objectives included to determine the nature of hydrodynamic processes near the reefs and their effects on the distribution of nutrients, phytoplankton, zooplankton and larval fish. Survey methods included ADCP, CTDs, EZ net tows, TUBSS (Towed Underwater Biological Sampling System) and underway instrumentation. Data, water and biological samples were collected for on board and laboratory analyses. The two current meters (deployed on cruise FR 08/92) were successfully retrieved. Related cruise FR 08/92.

Leader: J. Middleton (University of NSW), including other Pis
