Comments: At about 512 UTC wire out was shortened from 400 to 350 m. Net became snagged about 0530 UTC (1530 local time). Haul in started 0524 about 150 m or 1.6 minutes beyond planned off bottom position (assuming 3 knot trawl speed). Wire out at on bottom was 350 m. 1.6 minutes delay in haul up would be about 72 m or about 20% of total wire out. This time may have been significant in whether the hookup would have occurred or not. The view they had up on the bridge meant the off bottom position was obscured by the line (was this the planning line or another line? In any case the alert could have been raised earlier from the ops room. There is some minor damage to the net, one of the winch warps is damaged, two pennant wires lost. Bridles and sweeps were recovered but will be repalced as net is repaired.
