Taxon Notes:Rhynchobatus australiae and R. palpebratus were both previously lumped under this code (37 026001) prior to the publication of Compagno & Last, 2008 (description of R. palpebratus), when these two taxa were assigned new codes. Compagno & Last (2008) provisionally identified Rhynchobatus laevis (37 026003) from Australian waters, but Last et al 2016 (Rays of the World) showed that this species did not occur in Australian waters and the Australian form was actually R. australiae.
