Taxon Notes:

Centrophorus granulosus (sensu Last & Stevens, 1994), referred to a mixture of both Centrophorus acus and Centrophorus niaukang, both of which are now known to be junior synonyms of C. granulosus. The small species referred to as C. granulosus from the Mediterranean is a different species which needs to be resolved. The true C. granulosus is a large species is a large species attaining at least 1.5m TL (see White et al 2013).
