Taxon Notes:Straube et al 2011 (Zoologica Scripta) demonstrated that Etmopterus granulosus (Günther 1880) (described from Chile) was not endemic to Chile but instead has a widespread distribution in the southern hemisphere being synonymous to New Zealand Etmopterus baxteri Garrick 1957. So, the older name of Etmopterus granulosus is appropriate to the Australian form.
