Taxon Notes:Prior to Jan 2004, 2 forms of Centrophorus uyato were listed under this one code. In Jan 2004 the eastern form was coded as 37020011 and the western form was coded as 37 020045. In 2008, both eastern and western Australian forms were recognised as the one species described as Centrophorus zeehaani by White, Ebert & Compagno. In a more detailed morphological and molecular study of C. uyato, White et al 2022 subsequently synonymised C. zeehaani with C. uyato. This species has a patchy, but circumglobal distribution in tropical and temperate seas but is absent from the Central and Eastern Pacific. In southern Australia, it is known from off Forster (c. 32 S), NSW to west of Freycinet Estuary (26 36 S, 112 29 E), WA, including Tasmania in 208–701 m, but usually greater than 400 m (White et al 2022).
