Taxon Notes:	This name was used for all large freshwater prawns from the Australasian region, but now only applies to animals from western Asia (west of Huxley Line). This species is widely farmed in Asia (& imported as seafood into Australia), but differs from the native Australian species M. spinipes (see Wowor & Ng, 2007; Ng & Wowor, 2011). All previous records of M. rosenbergii from Australia, New Guinea & eastern Asia need to be re-examined to determine which species they really apply to.
Scientific Name Notes:	This species was called Macrobrachium dacqueti by Wowor & Ng (2007), but this name has since been suppressed by the ICZN in favour of M. rosenbergii in the interests of retaining this well-known name for the species that is widely fished and farmed in Asia. See Ng & Wowor, 2011.
