Taxon Notes:This genus is not native to Australia or the Australasian region. There are several records of Artemia in Australia, mostly in association with commercial salt harvesting areas. These animals were probably introduced either from salt harvesting activities or from aquarium enthusiasts who use these animals as live food for fish. This code is provided for use when identification of a specimen to this level is sufficient, or when no further detail is available.
