Taxon Notes: | This species is now regarded as tropical Indo-Pacific and is known with certainty from Malaysia to Japan. Here, we have included tropical Australian records, eg from Darwin, as this species pending their confirmation. Records from other areas, including southern Australia and New Zealand, are regarded as referring to different species in the genus, and any records from these areas need to be re-examined to confirm their identity.
