Taxon Notes: | This family includes many fossil species, and was previously considered to be extinct. Living species have previously been placed variously in the Buccinidae and Turridae. This enigmatic family is part of the Neogastropoda, but has no close affinities with any other family within the group, see Kantor et al, 2014.
