Taxon Notes:

The purple snails, previously placed in a separate family Janthinidae, are now all included in the Epitoniidae. The groups previously placed in the Nystiellidae are currently included back in the Epitoniidae, and the name Nystiellidae is included as a synonym of Epitoniidae. This code is provided for use when identification of a specimen to family level is sufficient, or when no further detail is available.
