Taxon Notes:This widespread and very variable taxon probably includes more than one species. Australian material was described as F. margaretae Iredale, and may prove to be a distinct species. See Poppe & Groh (2000). The name Ficus subintermedia has been widely but incorrectly used for Indo-Pacific material - Ficus subintermedia is actually a Pliocene fossil from the Mediteraanean.
