Taxon Notes:This species is native to Chile, with some records from the southwest Atlantic. There have also been recent records from the Gulf of Mexico, the Mediterranean and the Atlantic coast of Spain - the European records are regarded as accidental introductions. Records from Australia are likely to be based on mis-identifications, particularly as this group can be difficult to identify, and all Australian records need to be re-examined to confirm their identity.
