Taxon Notes:While Phenacolepas is now regarded as a synonym of Plesiothyreus, and many former members of this genus are now placed in Zacalantica, quite a number of species formerly placed in Phenacolepas have not yet been reassigned to any genus, including this species (WoRMS, April 2020). Pending further study and clarification, we have not reassigned this species.
