Taxon Notes:This species, from southeastern Australia and New Zealand, has a tan operculum, and until recently was confused with Nerita atramentosa from southern Australia which has a black operculum. It has also been mis-identified as N. morio, a species not found in Australia or New Zealand. See Spencer et al, 2007.
