Animalia (kingdom) » Annelida (phylum) » Polychaeta (class) » Sabellida (order) » Serpulidae (family)
CAAB Code: | 22 085031 |
Scientific Name and Authority: | Spirobranchus "kraussii" (Baird, 1865) |

|
Taxon Notes: | Spirobranchus kraussii, originally described from South Africa, was previously considered to be a widespread Indo-Pacific species. Recent genetic work has shown that it is a species complex and that S. kraussii s.s. is restricted to southern and eastern Africa. Material from other areas, including Australia, is genetically distinct and a detailed revision is needed to determine the correct names to be used. | ||||
