Taxon Notes:

This species was originally described from northern Europe, and has been widely recorded from the North Atlantic and Mediterranean. It has been recorded from Australian waters in the past, but no Australian specimens of this species have been located in any known collections, and previous records are likely based on mis-identifications. This species is currently not regarded as part of the Australian fauna.
