Taxon Notes:This subspecies was originally described from the Mediterranean, and most records of it are from there and the adjacent eastern North Atlantic. It is very likely that it was accidentally introduced into Australian waters from that region, and is not native. Within Australian waters, it is currently only known from the Sydney region. The North Pacific subspecies, O. labronica pacifica has not been recorded from Australian waters.
