Taxon Notes: | This species was originally described from the North Pacific, but has been accidentally introduced to many other areas, probably by shipping. It can reproduce sexually or asexually, and has wide environmental tolerances. It has potential to become established in any sheltered marine areas on hard substrate in tropical to sub-tropical areas. It has been reported from both Australia and New Zealand. The Australian record was from a power station cooling water discharge near Adelaide and the population has declined and is now possibly extinct. Reported New Zealand populations from the North Island appear to be well established and expanding. | ||||
