Taxon Notes:	This species was originally described from the Caspian Sea, and it is recorded widely in Eurasia and North America, as well as some records from the Indo-Pacific, including Australia and New Zealand. The latter records are regarded as accidental introductions, and those from many other areas are likely to be as well.
